what is transformational coaching
Transformational coaching is a deep, holistic approach that helps individuals create fundamental, lasting change by exploring their core beliefs, values, identity, and mindset, rather than just focusing on specific goals or behaviors like traditional coaching. It aims to unlock deeper self-awareness, helping clients "rewrite their reality" by shifting their internal mental frameworks, leading to profound shifts in how they see themselves and the world, ultimately empowering them to live more fully and achieve significant personal or professional transformation.
Key characteristics:
Focuses on "being," not just "doing": Moves beyond transactional goal-setting to shift a person's fundamental way of being and understanding.
Deep exploration: Works at the level of identity, values, assumptions, and purpose to create sustainable change.
Unlocks potential: Helps individuals see new possibilities and overcome internal blocks, fostering self-actualization.
Holistic: Considers the entire life context, including cultural identity and past influences, for profound growth.
How it differs from traditional coaching:
Transitional coaching: helps move from one state to another (e.g., job to job).
Transformational coaching: helps rethink what's possible and fundamentally change one's life parameters (e.g., redefining one's entire professional life).
What it achieves:
Lasting change: Creates changes in behavior, perspective, and self-perception that are deeply rooted and enduring.
Increased self-awareness: Clients gain profound understanding of their strengths, weaknesses, and underlying patterns.
Empowerment: Clients become the creators of their own lives, aligning actions with their true self.
Who benefits:
Individuals facing significant life challenges or seeking major shifts.
Leaders needing to change deep-seated behaviors or develop new capabilities.

What is transformational coaching? - Catalyst 14
As you can see from the diagram below, it visually describes the 2-year journey of our courses — starting in the first year, where...
Have you found your self at a time in your life where you are transforming or changing. Either your life is transforming, or your career is changing or you are starting a new phase of your life. You don't necessarily need therapy, but you don't need Coaching either. You don't need someone who is telling you what to do or setting goals, because inspiration and creativity need space and time, not direct lines. But you also don't need to delve into your past either. Maybe you have had therapy or a process of awareness or you feel your self is at your centre, and you just need someone to walk with you while you figure things out.
Sometimes we just need the space in between that allows us to work out the messy part of transition. In the movement of transition, we find our creativity, our answers, and our inspiration, but it is not until we are in transition, that life starts to move, but sometimes we have absolutely know idea what we are doing, but if we don't start, the inspiration just doesn't come, the ideas stay hidden away, constantly nagging at you.
But starting when you have no idea what you are doing can be daunting and you don't want to feel judged or feel you have to have it figured out. Or that you remotely know what you are doing. You want someone to navigate the twists and turns until you figure it out. Until you can see the woods for the trees. Because when you are transitioning any change, you want to make sure you include your 'self,' in the process, otherwise you will wake up one day and wonder how you got where you are, and you are not at the centre of your life. NOT experiencing the peace and joy that you deserve.
I found myself in transition of my life, where I was trying to figure things out. Not about what I 'SHOULD,' be doing, but how I could keep myself at the centre of the next chapter of my life. It wasn't about having goals or reaching targets, it was allowing me space to figure things out, with someone that could walk with me in this space. Someone who knew how important it is to allow the 'self' to breathe, to discover and find inspiration during the messy middle of transition. I didn't want someone who expected me to figure it out straight away and then suddenly put everything into place. It wasn't the doing, that I needed help with, it was the 'being.' Someone who could walk in the unknown with me, not requiring perfection, or even a knowing what I was doing. I was figuring it out along the way. I was twisting and turning and I wanted someone who was capable of doing this to, and helping me to see, without me getting lost. I needed someone that could follow but could also lead if I needed it, moving back to following. I needed someone who could twist and turn and navigate the path of transition with me. I didn't need someone to be my therapist, because I knew my 'self,' but equally I needed someone who knew their 'self,' too. Someone who could respect and understand how the 'self,' finds inspiration, in movement and unknown.
So if you are ready to move but have no idea what you are doing, and would like someone to walk beside you in this messy middle, also having the strength to have no idea, then we can walk together, until you figure it out, without getting lost.
